Developed alongside the new Planar 3, the Rega Planar 2 Turntable will offer unbeatable performance at this price point featuring an all-new design and a host of new features for 2016.
The new Rega RB220 tonearm features a new automatic bias assembly, with a redesigned stiffer vertical bearing housing and integrated arm clip with Rega’s custom arm tube. A brand-new bespoke (Patent Pending) ‘zero-play’ ball bearing assembly, designed by Rega themselves, helps reduce friction to ultra-low levels.
Rega’s own (Patent Pending) self-securing main hub bearing offers an improved fit and construction, thus reducing stress levels on the bearing itself. This new feature is designed to remove potential energy problems from the plinth.
The Planar 2 now features a stiffer, high-gloss acrylic laminated plinth with an ergonomically positioned power switch, vastly improving the deck’s appearance. The new Planar 2 will initially be available in two plinth finishes at launch: gloss black & gloss white.
The motor cover tray has integrated cooling and an optional lid, or plinth protector keeps the plinth looking at its best. Rega’s faithful Carbon MM cartridge comes supplied as standard on all Planar 2’s. Rega expect the new Planar 2 will be available from approximately June 2016.
Other key areas of improvement include;
- A new 24v low-noise & low-vibration motor assembly with brand new PCB.
- New ‘Optiwhite’ 10mm float glass platter for improved accuracy.
