Our involvement with Solidair Audio begun approximately four years ago, following a demonstration of the Gyro Performance Pack as a performance upgrade for our demonstration Michell Gyro SE. With our enthusiasm running high, the design team Solidair Audio have whetted our appetite further and created performance enhancing audio upgrades for amplification, source components and loudspeakers, called the Dark Star 50 isolation feet.

The Solidair Audio Dub Star 50 for Technics SL1210 turntables are a softer sprung version of the 2″ Dark Star 50 feet. Named Dub Star as they can absorb lower frequencies and deep bass which can upset lighter equipment. The Dub Star 50 are similar in proportion and looks to the Solidair Dark Star range and designed specifically for lighter weight turntables, such as the Rega and Project models.

The Dub Star 50 turntable isolation feet can be used directly beneath lightweight hi-fi components. It can be fitted with cork facings to stop sliding occurring once in place under a component, or with threads to suit the turntable. Many Rega turntables have a 6mm thread and many Project turntable an 8mm stud to locate the feet. Other thread sizes can be supplied to suit as required.

The Dub Star 50 give a clearer sound, with better instrument separation. Blacker quiet passages with reduced surface noise.

The overall diameter of the Dub Star 50 feet is 52mm (2 inches) and height around 47mm (1.8 inches) unloaded  They weigh approximately 30 grams (1oz) and load capacity is up to 4kg (8lb) for a single foot. The main body of the Dub Star 50 is made from a carbon fibre tube which holds an African blackwood foot on an elastomer web. They are best used on a hard flat surface as they have an X cross section O ring in the base to provide further damping.
