The PS AUDIO PerfectWave DirectStream DAC MK2 is an advanced digital-to-analog converter that uses custom-written FPGA code rather than off-the-shelf integrated circuit technology. This allows for the highest level of audio fidelity, as the conversion process is done with discrete and galvanically isolated components. The DirectStream MK2 is capable of up-sampling standard CDs, streaming audio, PCM and DSD-based media up to twenty times the rate of DSD, resulting in pure analog output that can be directly connected to an amplifier or preamplifier.

The DirectStream MK2 is a digital-to-analog converter that features galvanic isolation for its input signals, both PCM and DSD. It converts these signals to a high sample rate 50 bit version and then to pure DSD for the final conversion to pure analog. This DAC utilizes twin FPGAs instead of an off-the-shelf chip, providing a great amount of control over the sound output. Users can take advantage of free operating system updates as they are released for further resolution and audio quality. With every free upgrade, the DirectStream MK2 will provide new levels of audio quality.

The PS AUDIO DirectStream MK2 is a crucial component of a top-notch digital audio system, capable of processing PCM audio up to 705.6 kHz and DSD up to 256. Its digital volume control is now completely isolated from input, output, and power sources, and features an improved attenuator architecture with six levels of attenuation that are automatically adjusted based on the desired volume, allowing it to be used as a preamplifier to directly power an amplifier.
