The RED Standard CD player combines traditional CD playback with DAC64 digital-to-analogue conversion technology to deliver optimum performance at a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz. Thanks to the use of a 64-bit DAC with a 1024th order digital WTA filter, the clarity of the sound is significantly increased and all the nuances of the recording are accurately reproduced. The Red Standard design is based on the same proprietary concept as the rest of Chord's products. Its body is machined from aluminum, which provides a rigid structure to support the CD transport. The front panel design is similar to that of the Red Reference CD player. It uses ball bearing push buttons for the most frequently used functions and a dual display, on one side of which the status of the CD is displayed, and on the other - information about the settings of the input, buffer and sample rate. The unique 45-degree CD transport allows front panel access even when rack or rack mounted. The CD is accessed by pressing a button that controls an electromagnetic tray opening mechanism with hydraulic shock absorber. The rear panel of the unit is equipped with gold-plated RCA connectors, fiber optic connectors and balanced XLR connectors. The digital signal from the output of the Philips CD Pro 2 mechanism is sent through a shielded cable to the D / A converter. It uses DAC64 technology, a digital signal with a sampling rate of 44, 1 kHz is converted to analog using 64-bit processing and 1024th order filtering. The signal then passes through a 64-bit 7th order squelch and undergoes 2048x oversampling and improved pulse width modulation. This achieves significantly better measurable characteristics and better detailed resolution, and hence sound quality. The D / A converter also uses a RAM buffer that sequentially receives data and resynchronizes it, virtually eliminating jitter. The buffer status is clearly displayed on the display, and its settings - minimum buffering, maximum or off - are made using a switch on the front panel. All the above operations are performed on the basis of a programmable logic microcircuit, which can be reprogrammed by simply replacing the ROM chip, which opens up the possibility of further improvement of the device. The Red Standard is an innovative device that combines the latest advances in digital-to-analogue conversion with a well-crafted design and attractive appearance. It can be used as a standalone CD player or as a combination of DAC and turntable, second only to the Chord RED Reference CD player in performance. combining the latest advances in digital-to-analogue conversion with high-quality construction and attractive design.
