The Trichord Diablo is a high performance, audiophile-grade phono amplifier that has been designed specifically for high transparency. The maximized performance of the Diablo phono stage cartridges from ultra-low output moving coils to high output moving magnets works with high efficiency. The adjustable set of four DIP switches that have been placed along the underside of the unit on this phono amplifier remains user-friendly.
The Diablo also accepts a wider variety of Moving Coil and Moving Magnet cartridges with adjustable cartridge loading ability. The adjustable switches on the Diablo allow for easier cartridge loading and gain settings. With cartridge loading capacitance of MC 1.1nF, MM 100pF and resistance of 33 ohms, 100 ohms, 1k ohms, 47k ohms, the Diablo phono amplifier offers long lasting expectancy.
The cabinetry does away with conventional metals, instead using aluminium. With a non-ferrous cabinetry, the Diablo is able to reduce the propagation of eddy currents that are known to impair sound reproduction in subtle ways. This also enhances sound reproduction. Circuitry in the device has signal non-inverting and fabricated using audio-grade bipolar and JEFT operational amplifiers from Analog devices and Linear Technology. The RIAA equalisation network is past passive & part active.
The RIAA Reproduction characteristics of the Diablo are 20Hz - 20KHz, +/- 0.25dB. Capacitors and resistors used in Diablo have close tolerance. Metal oxide resistors and ultra-low impedance capacitors are employed throughout in order to guarantee the lowest possible amount of noise. Four “State of the Art” ultra-low impedance and low noise wide-band voltage regulator circuits are used in order to power both the channels—they are also largely responsible for the high sonic performance that can be found with the Diablo.
The 'Never Connected' name for the Diablo’s circuitry arises from the fact that the circuit is never electrically connected to the rectified inward mains. This is intentional and has been used to drastically reduce Borne Noise that is associated with the mains. This is a significant reduction and raises the overall effectivity of the Trichord Diablo’s phono circuitry that has a different electronic setup as compared to a conventional DC power supply. Rather than using the typical toroidal transformer, the use of PCB mounting will further help to make this an effective noise-reducing circuit.
